Ways To Clean A Shower Curtain

You can make your shower curtain lasts longer so you don’t have to replace it that often by following some of these simple tips.

Because the shower curtain is always exposed to water, mold usually forms on it. One thing that you can do is to remove the curtain once every two or three days and hang it out in the sun. This way it will get a chance to dry out completely and the sun will get rid of the germs and bacteria.

Alternatively you can schedule to wash your shower curtain every time you wash your laundry as well. In addition to your regular laundry detergent, add a cup of vinegar and a cup of any bleaching agent. Include some white towels or linen to cut down on the amount of water wasted.

Do not use hot water to wash the shower curtain as it might melt or possibly shrink in size. When you are drying do not throw it in the dryer instead, hang it out in the sun to dry.

Another idea that you can try is soaking the shower curtain in salt water or a mixture of salt water and vinegar after washing it and then put it back on the rod to dry from there. The salt water and the vinegar will prevent the formation of mildew and mold.

You can use some of the sprays that are now available for use on shower curtains. I like the Arm and Hammer shower spray and use it daily after my shower. Not only does it help keep the shower curtain clean and mold-free, it also keeps the tub and walls clean so that I don’t have to clean them for almost a month. The sprays are also designed to prevent the formation of mold and mildew.
