Wholesale Trade Show: New York Gift Fair

The New York Gift Fair (NYIGF) is one of the largest, well known and most well attended wholesale trade shows I know. We have been several times and everytime I feel like a kid in a candy store. There is so much to take in that you really need 3 or 4 days to attend.

The New York Gift Fair takes places in New York City twice a year – in January and then again in August. To find out about current dates for this trade show visit www.nyigf.com/info

This year there are approximately 3,000 exhibitors and 36,000 buyers are expected to attend. The New York Gift Fair is housed over several locations and buildings. These buildings include: Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 90, 92 & 94.

There are free shuttles to take you from one building to another.

The main building is the Jacob Javits in New York City. If you have never been to this show you should start at this building. It will take you at least 2 days to completely go through this one building. New vendors are housed in the Pier Terminal buildings and it will take another 1 to 2 days to completely go through those buildings.

The New York Gift Fair is held twice a year and offers an incredible selection of exceptional merchandise from around the world in home, gift, food, and lifestyle all in one convenient, well-organized marketplace. You will also find business seminars and workshops, networking opportunities during the show.

This is a wholesale trade show which means it is only open to individuals who can provide business credentials. This is often called “to the Trade”. Attendees must provide documentation in the form of a copy of your business license of the approval of the business owner that you will be attending in their place.

This wholesale trade show is free to attend. You may register on their website. Children under the age of 14 may be admitted as guests for a $50 admission fee if accompanied by a registered attendee.

At a wholesale trade show you find products you are looking for and then place orders with wholesale companies. The New York Gift Fair is no exception. All products must be ordered and shipped. On average you should allow 6 to 8 weeks from the time the show is over to receive your order.

You are usually not allowed to take pictures of products at the NYIGF.
